International Childhood Cancer Day Awareness Camp – A Heartfelt Initiative by JKKN Allied Health Science College
On March 10, 2025, the International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD) Awareness Camp organized by JKKN College of Allied Health Sciences was successfully held at Senthuraja Hall. The event brought together kind hearts, hopeful minds, and compassionate souls to raise awareness, spread love, and stand in solidarity with brave young warriors battling childhood cancer.
From the start, the air was filled with inspiration, unity, and hope. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and staff of JKKN Allied Health Sciences, local healthcare professionals, community members, and most notably, the vibrant and compassionate school students of JKKN Vidyalaya, who added youthful energy and heartfelt involvement to the cause.
The inaugural session set the tone for the day with powerful speeches from faculty and guests, emphasizing the significance of awareness, early detection, and community support. The message was clear: every child deserves a chance at life, laughter, and dreams.
Throughout the day, the camp featured a variety of meaningful and impactful activities:
1. Expert Talks & Health Awareness Sessions
Medical professionals specializing in pediatric oncology delivered insightful presentations on identifying early signs of cancer in children and the importance of timely intervention. These sessions empowered attendees with essential knowledge and sparked important conversations.
2. Survivor Stories – Voices of Strength
The audience was deeply moved by the real-life stories shared by childhood cancer survivors. Their strength, resilience, and positive spirit were a source of inspiration to everyone present. As one young survivor said, “I’m not just a fighter; I’m a survivor, a dreamer, and a believer.”
3. Interactive Support Workshops
These sessions highlighted the emotional and psychological aspects of childhood cancer. Attendees learned how to offer empathetic support to affected families and children. Discussions encouraged shared understanding and community-driven care.
4. Creative Expressions by Students
A special highlight of the event was the active participation of JKKN Vidyalaya school students, who took part in drawing, poster-making, and slogan-writing competitions based on themes like “Be the Change,” “Hope for Children,” and “Together We Care.” Their colorful creations filled the venue with vibrant visuals and powerful messages of hope and healing.
5. Candlelight Tribute Ceremony
In a solemn and emotional closing ceremony, participants lit candles in honor of those we’ve lost and in support of children still fighting their battles. The candlelight represented hope, strength, and unity—a symbol that we stand together for a brighter, cancer-free future for children.
The event also featured informative stalls, awareness materials, and opportunities for the public to pledge their support. Volunteers, faculty, and students worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure a smooth and meaningful experience for all attendees.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined hands to make this event a success – from the dedicated staff of JKKN Allied Health Science College, the energetic participation of JKKN Vidyalaya school students, to the local healthcare community and the generous supporters who believe in this cause.
